Hi,
We're observing a problem with calling pcap_findalldevs. On certain
machines it causes a high spike in cpu usage, which we can not allow for
in our running service.
for example, running the following on a windows 2000 server machine
takes about 9 seconds, with the cpu utilization getting to 100% :
C:\Program Files\Wireshark>dumpcap -D
1. \Device\NPF_GenericDialupAdapter (Adapter for generic dialup and VPN
capture)
2. \Device\NPF_{6813CC94-9ACB-4676-85C3-BF713D36D832} (Broadcom
NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Driver)
3. \Device\NPF_{DD137005-3337-4F92-9FFE-4FB8EFD1013B} (Broadcom
NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Driver)
4. \Device\NPF_{4524702E-FCCC-4E98-AA71-F2814C0EC4FC} (Intel(R) PRO/100
VE Network Connection)
Any ideas to what might be causing this? I am using the latest
wireshark installer to install dumpcap/winpcap.
I already tried setting the services/drivers (npf) to auto-start, but
this didn't help.
thanks,
Sagi
