Hi Gianluca,

Thanks for the information. I will check that out. But this really do not help to resolve my issue. I am not able to list Atheros based wireless card. Is this a bug with winpcap? Do we have any resolution?

It would be great if you can help me resolve this issue.

Thanks,
J

The wireleaa card is the one named as "Microsoft"
(it's a complicated story, I think I explained why it's like that on Vista in
some previous email on WinPcap-users or WinPcap-bugs).

Hi Gianluca,

Thank you for the quick responce. I get the
list of adapters that are inbuilt in the system. Below is how it shows me on
the command prompt (I am running my application in elevated
  mode).

c:\adapters>list.exe

No.: 0 ==> MS Tunnel Interface
  Driver
No.: 1 ==> Microsoft
No. :2 ==> Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit
  Ethernet Driver.

I suppose listing of wireless cards is not happening.
Am I using the right release? I have compiled the npf.sys and placed it under
  /system32/drivers folder and packet.dll under windows/system folder.

The same application works fine in XP. Kindly
  advice.

Thanks,
J

Hi Gianluca,

I successfully compiled the npf driver
and the packet library. I wrote a small application to list down the
adapters present. I am facing an issue here where in I observed that only
Atheros based card are not getting listed. Is this a known issue? Is there
is a solution to this problem?

Configuration:

1. Vista
    Business/Ultimate SP1
2. Winpcap 4.1.beta

I am able to list all
micosoft and broadcom based cards. Please help me to get some resolution to
    above matter.

Thanks,
J

Thanks a lot Gianluca I will surely have a look at wcap.dll
    code.

      Hi All,

I want my application talk to driver and receive the
packets captured from air. And for the same I need protocol driver
to talk pull the packets from the driver and put them to user buffer. I
      have 4.1 wpcap source.

I have few questions. It would be great if
some one can help me with them:

1. Compilation environment for npf
      (protocol driver) and packet library.

Please follow the directions in the WinPcap
    developer's pack, or online at

    http://www.winpcap.org/docs/docs_41b5/html/group__compilation.html

2. Will I have to do any changes in packet library to make it
work for my driver to push the packets up the application?

Integrating support for a new "driver" can be
tricky. I suggest you to integrate it at the wpcap.dll level, it's much
easier than integrating it into packet.dll. If you modify wpcap.dll, I
suggest you to download the sources for 4.1beta5 and have a look at how I
added support for the TurboCap cards in the files pcap-tc.h and
    pcap-tc.c

3. Are there any odds that needs to be taken care in Vista? I am
new to this part of windows.

    No.

Your help is greatly appreciated

    Have a nice day

Thanks,
J
