I solved the issue. I removed the settings from
application data  in my user profile. Now the project
compiles.
Must have been a system compile setting.

a DLL should not help at all if we don't understand
what is the problem
(it's a problem with some include files, it should
have nothing to do with
DLLs vs. EXE projects).

Another suggestion: please check that in the
preprocessor definitions, WIN32
is defined.
If this doesn't help, can you please send a zip
containing a small VC2003
project showing the problem?

I tried all that you suggesed, but, no luck. I still
get the error. Maybe I should just create a DLL?
