<br>
no, WinPCap does not see any NIC on the machine.<br>
It seems to me that we already managed to install WinPCap on XPE
in the past... probably<br>
some OS services or components are missing (you know, XPE is only
XP minus a lot of things).<br>
<br>
If I can figure out what is missing, I can modify my XPE image in
order to add it...<br>
<br>
Any idea or hint for discovering from where the problems come ?<br>
<br>
Thanks a lot,<br>

<div><b>Subject:</b> [Winpcap-users] Problem when installing
WinPCap 4.1.2 under WindowsXPE</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<font face="Calibri">Hi,<br>
<br>
we are running into some troubles while trying to install
WinPCap 4.1.2 under Windows XPE.<br>
<br>
If we install it "alone" (i.e. without Netmon), we have the
following warning:<br>
<br>
</font>"An error occurred when installing the Microsoft Network
Monitor Driver (NetMon) (0x800F0203)<br>
You will be able to use WinPcap on standard network adapters, but
not on dialup connections and VPNs.<br>
Please contact ...<br>
The installation will now continue."<br>
<br>
<font face="Calibri">But actually WinPCap has problem even with
packets coming from standard NIC, i.e., we are unable to capture
traffic.<br>
<br>
So we tried to install NetMon before WinPCap. It installs fine
(as long as we did not have any message telling us<br>
that an error occurred while installing netmon, we concluded
that the installation went fine).<br>
If now we install WinPCap after NetMon, we have a different
error message, telling that a problem has<br>
occurred and to look into install.log for details.<br>
<br>
install.log is here attached. Mainly WinPCap seems unable to
find netmon-related DLLs. And actually<br>
those are not on the pc, so probably netmon installation has
failed.<br>
If we manually copy these files from a working XP machine,
WInPcap still complains that some of<br>
them are missing.<br>
<br>
So, I think that we are facing a big installation problem:
anyone has successfully installed WinPCap on<br>
the top of a XPE ? If yes, which are mandatory XPE components
that should be there in order for the<br>
installation to complete nicely ? Have you installed it with or
without NetMon ? If with, how can you<br>
managed to have NetMon installed ?<br>
<br>
Any other suggestion ? We can do additional tests if needed...<br>
<br>
Thanks a lot,<br>
AA.<br>
