Subject: [Winpcap-users] Problem when installing WinPCap 4.1.2
under WindowsXPE

Hi,

we are running into some troubles
while trying to install WinPCap 4.1.2 under Windows XPE.

If we install
it "alone" (i.e. without Netmon), we have the following
warning:

"An error occurred when installing the Microsoft
Network Monitor Driver (NetMon) (0x800F0203)
You will be able to use
WinPcap on standard network adapters, but not on dialup connections and
VPNs.
Please contact ...
The installation will now
continue."

But actually WinPCap has problem even
with packets coming from standard NIC, i.e., we are unable to capture
traffic.

So we tried to install NetMon before WinPCap. It installs fine
(as long as we did not have any message telling us
that an error occurred
while installing netmon, we concluded that the installation went fine).
If
now we install WinPCap after NetMon, we have a different error message,
telling that a problem has
occurred and to look into install.log for
details.

install.log is here attached. Mainly WinPCap seems unable to
find netmon-related DLLs. And actually
those are not on the pc, so probably
netmon installation has failed.
If we manually copy these files from a
working XP machine, WInPcap still complains that some of
them are
missing.

So, I think that we are facing a big installation problem:
anyone has successfully installed WinPCap on
the top of a XPE ? If yes,
which are mandatory XPE components that should be there in order for
the
installation to complete nicely ? Have you installed it with or without
NetMon ? If with, how can you
managed to have NetMon installed ?

Any
other suggestion ? We can do additional tests if needed...

Thanks a
lot,
AA.
